프랑스인 도예가 장 프랑수와 후이유(Jean-Francois Fouilhoux)의 청자전이 오는 6월 14일부터 26일까지 통인옥션갤러리에서 선보인다. 후이유는 지난 25여 년간 갖가지 석재를 혼합하여 다양한 소성법으로 청자의 빛깔을 실험하고 연구하는 데 온갖 노력을 해 왔다.
세찬 파도를 떠올리게 하는 거칠고 강한 동세의 조형과 잔잔한 호수를 연상시키는 깊이감 있는 푸른 광채의 매끈한 표면처리는 서로 대조를 이루며 시선을 사로잡는다. 그의 작품 전반에 나타나 보이는 청자 특유의 다채로운 빛깔과 우연적이고 자연적인 형상은 감성을 자극하는 한편, 흙을 능숙히 다루어 내외부의 경계를 흩뜨린 듯 한 표현법은 끊임없는 호기심과 신비로움을 자아낸다.
◇Jean-Francois Fouilhoux(도예가 장-프랑수와 후이유)
An exhibition of French potter Jean-Francois Fouilhoux was held in June 2006 at Tongin Gallery. The effect of Jean-Francois Fouilhoux’s works is created by expressive shapes and great dynamics. Often starting on a small footing they develop into sweeping suspended sculptures.
The play between expressiveness and perfection is key: expressiveness on the outside with its language of shapes derived from nature: huge swells and waves, crustaceans, glaciers and rock formations. His towering shapes are reminiscent of rotating dance movements.
The perfection of the interior bears features of an almost mathematical calculable geometry. Fouilhoux’s life has been determined by the obsessive search for the perfect celadon, comparable to the one used in China during the Song period. He is respected world-wide as an expert of historical celadon from the Far East. He is an artist, scientist and inventor.
Born in 1947, Jean-Francois Fouilhoux studied at Ecole National Superieure des Arts Appliques in Paris. His work is included in such public collections as Musée National de Céramique de Sèvres(Paris, France), Musée des Arts Décoratifs(Paris, France), Fletcher collection(Auckland, New-Zealand), American Craft Museum(New York, USA).
프랑스인 도예가 ‘장-프랑수와 후이유’전시가 2006년 6월 통인 갤러리에서 열렸다. 후이유는 1947년에 태어나 파리의 국립고등응용미술학교(Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués)에서 공부했다. 전업도예가로서 International Academy of Ceramics(국제도자협의회)의 회원으로 활동하며 유럽과 아시아, 미국 등지에서 수차례 전시회를 가진 바 있다.
후이유는 1980년 뮌헨의 국제페어에서 금메달을 수상하는 등 그동안 세계 유수의 아트페어에서 인정받아 명성을 얻고 있으며, 현대 청자의 대표작가로 자리매김하였다.
프랑스의 세브르 국립도자박물관(Musée National de Céramique de Sèvres, Paris, France)과 장식미술관(Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris, France), 뉴질랜드 오클랜드의 플레져 챌린지 콜렉션(Fletcher collection, Auckland, New-Zealand), 스위스 제네바의 아리아나 박물관(Musée Ariana, Genève, Suisse), 미국공예박물관(American Craft Museum, New-York, USA) 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
