Africa’s Light, Wind and Hope

 

 

화면엔 자연의 신비가 느껴지도록 무채색을 배경으로 원색과 보색의 대비와 균열이 일어난 듯 투박하고 거친 질감이 서로 통합되고 융화되어 있다.  

In order to feel the mystery of nature on the canvas, on an uncolored background, the contrast of primary colors and complementary colors and a rough and coarse texture that seems to be creating cracks combine and mix with each other well.

 

배경과 바탕을 이루고 있는 기하학적인 추상적 요소와 악기 연주, 말 ,정물, 인물과 같은 구체적인 형상이 서로 간에 조형적 접목을 시도하고 있다. 이는 대상과 대상 사이의 리듬에 즉각적으로 반응하여 조화 있는 리듬을 만들어 낸 결과이다.  

The geometrically abstract elements that make up the background and basis, and the instrument playing, horses, inanimate objects, people and other images are used to attempt a formative integration with each other. This is the result of creating a harmonic rhythm by immediately responding to the rhythm between the objects.

 

 

 

 

작가는 “그것은 순간의 직관만이 회화적인 본능에 가깝다고 믿는 출발이기도 하다. 그 찰나에 중요한 건 대상을 보고 처음 의도하고자 했던 표현이나 느낌을 잃지 않는 일이다”고 말했다. 

The artist explained, “This is the start of the belief that only the intuition of an instance is close to painting instinct. The most important part in this instance is not to lose the ｅxpression or feeling that was first intended after seeing that object.”

 

 

 

 

 

그녀는 아프리카의 케냐, 남아공, 짐바브웨 등지를 여행하면서 스케치했다. “자연과 동물과 인간이 어우러져 조화를 이루는 삶을 눈으로 확인했고 내 작품세계의 아프리카는 야수파 표현주의의 중간지대로 대담하고 활달하게 표현하고 싶었다. 현실과 이상, 음과 양의 조화 등 의미로 색채 대비를 했다”라고 말했다. 

She makes sketches while traveling in Africa in Kenya, South Africa and Zimbabwe. She stated, “I saw nature, animals andpeople living in harmony together, and in my works, I wanted to express Africa in a bold and active manner as somewhere in the middle of fauvism and ｅxpressionism. I made color contracts to symbolize reality and idealism, and the harmony of yin and yang.

 

때문에 그린다는 개념 보다는 색체를 사용한 행위와 감성의 표현이 화면 가득 나타나도록 긁고 부리고 덧칠하는 작업을 거친 화면은 깊고도 화려하다.  

Thus, rather than being the act of drawing, the canvas is deep and extravagant after undergoing the works of scratching off and repainting so that action using colors and ｅxpression of emotions can fill the canvas.

 

 

 

화가 임귀남

 

임귀남 작가는 홍콩, 말레이시아, 북경, 서울 COEX 등 다수의 개인전을 열었다. 생명, 자아, 소통전(예송미술관), 한국미술대표작가전(MBC 미국개국기념 해외전) 등 다수의 단체전에 참여했다. 대한민국 미술대전 입선 4회, 대한민국교원 및 교직원 미술대전특선 등을 수상했다. 

The artist held 8 solo exhibits in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Beijing, Seoul COEX, etc. She also participated in a number of group exhibits such as the Life, Self, Communication Exhibit (Yesong ArtGallery) and Korea Artists Exhibit (Overseas exhibit in commemoration of opening MBC-USA). She was awarded four times at the Korea Art Competition, and also received special awards at the Korea Teachers and Educational Faculty Art Competition.
