젊음만이 소유할 수 있는, 靑春 아우라 

 

그가 이번에 야심차게 선보일 작품의 테마는 나이에 걸맞게 ‘청춘 그리고 발걸음’이다. 제법 낭만적이다. 그래서 모든 작품에는 ‘청춘’이라는 향기를 자기 나름대로 구성하고 채색했다. 그 속을 들여다보면 사람, 동물, 꽃과 자연, 둥근 점, 수직-수평선․면들이 각각 자리하고 균형을 이뤘다. 재료는 대부분 캔버스 위에 유화로 그렸다. 기법과 색상은 새 봄날의 청순한 기운처럼 담백하고 투명한 느낌이다. 

The theme of her works to be exhibited this time is “Youth and Stepping Forward”, appropriate to her age. It sounds quite romantic. So she has colored all her works with the fragrance of Youth. Looking closely into her works, we can find humans, animals, flowers, nature, round spots, vertical/horizontal lines making harmony. She has painted all her works with oils. The technique and color of her works gives the impression of cleanness and transparence just like the feeling of spring days.

또 여기에 젊음의 발랄, 순수함을 밝고 화려한 색으로 붓질했다. 어두운색은 거의 배제되었다. 작품의 시각적 구성은 옛 동양화처럼 여백을 살렸다. 여러 개의 단절된 수평․직선은 이상향의 통로이다. 그림을 축소해서 보면 한편의 애틋한 시처럼, 동화 속 아름다운 이미지처럼 다가온다. 이는 사랑하는 가족으로부터 또는 그가 살아가는 주변 환경과의 대화 흔적이 고스란히 묻어 나온다. 

To this she added the vitality and purity of Youth with bright and splendid colors. She seems to avoid almost all dark colors. In the visual structure, she has made full use of the margin as in the old oriental paintings. Numerous horizontal lines symbolize the passage to the Utopia. When downsized, her works come closer like a touching poem or a beautiful elf in a fairy tale. They carefully show the traces of her conversing with her family and environments.

그의 작품 속 내용과 형식에 특별한 의미를 부여하는 것은 생략한다. 작품의 주된 메시지는 현대를 살아가는 우리의 주변 모습이자 정체성이다. 또 그가 역설적으로 표현하고자 했던 진정한 조형언어로서 자화상이기도 하다. 그러니 그림 하나하나에 해설은 오히려 불필요하다. 다만, 그는 “우리가 흔히 느끼는 청춘, 아니 나의 청춘은 영원한 것이 아니라 시시각각으로 변할 수 있다. 어느 땐 나의 얼굴, 마음 등이 꽃처럼 정말 아름다웠지만, 어느 순간은 자신이 죽도록 밉기도 했다. 그것은 곧 꽃 같거나 개 같거나-하다.”라고 말한다.  

I am not going to give any special meaning to the contents and style of the works. The consistent message of her works is not different from the appearance of our surroundings and our identity. What she tried to express paradoxically may be called “our self-portrait” depicted in a visual language. But it is needless to add explanation to each of her works. She wants to emphasize the message that “my youth or the youth we feel is not permanent, but something transient. once in my life, my appearance may as beautiful as a flower, but some time later they may appear detestable. That is, I may look like a flower or a dog”

 

이것은 우리가 모두 경험한 지극히 보편적 가치이기도 하지만, 그가 겪어온 청춘기(Youth) 과정에서 내재한 감정을 거침없이 토해낸 것이다. 그리하여 작품에서는 그만의 정체성을 확보하려고 노력했고, 더 나아가 가변적 논리와 역설미학으로 접근하였다. 

The message is something we all tacitly agree to, but she freely presents her emotion deeply embedded in herself.
