The light inside me
I have been expressing various colors of light with the motif of a butterfly, but recently I put down those shapes and I breathe out my body with free brush strokes. As a butterfly dances, I hold up a brush and I am brushing as if dancing. This is another expression of complete emptiness of immersion. It is in the same vein as spirituality, which is repeated and accumulated as an image of meditation even if it is not seen well. It is the pursuit of freedom through thoughtless and unconcerned work. The free flapping of the wings of a butterfly that is finally revealed through repeated practice is the vitality of butterfly work. My brush strokes are the free flaps of a butterfly’s wings.
그동안 나비를 모티브로 빛의 색을 다양하게 표현해 왔는데, 최근엔 그러한 형상들을 내려놓고 자유로운 붓질로 내 몸의 호흡을 실어내고 있다. 나비가 춤사위를 하듯 붓을 들고 춤을 추듯이 붓질한다. 이것은 몰입의 완전한 비움이라는 다른 표현으로서 잘 보이지 않아도 수행의 심상으로 반복하며 집적(集積)한 정신성과 같은 맥락에 있다. 무념무상의 작업행위를 통해 추구하는 자유로움을 얻는 것이다. 수행과 반복성에서 마침내 드러나는 자유로운 나비의 날갯짓이 바로 나비작업의 생명력인 것이다. 나의 붓질은 나비의 자유로운 날개 짓이다.

◇Navi Kim
Navi Kim(Butterfly artist Hyeonjeong Kim) is a multimedia artist who has fused photography, media, and installation based on a butterfly motif painting for 17 years. She has expressed butterflies that overcome reality and soar towards the light with the color of light. Realizing that the light of hope is not far away, but within oneself, She is working on the theme of ‘the light within me’ that shines by itself. Her work, implemented in LG‘s new ‘transparent display’, recently received a great response at the OIF event held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The artist has been working on fusion of LED with painting since 2009 to express luminous colors, and it was a collaboration that fundamentally suited OLED.
△Multidisciplinary Navi Kim=doctoral program in plastic arts and design at the Graduate School of Sangmyung University, she participated in 13solo exhibitions and 100 group exhibitions in Seoul, Paris, New York, and Tokyo. In order to communicate with the public, she collaborated on the installation of the 4th industrial public art <The Butterfly Stairs to Donation> at Seoul City Hall Station (2019), Uijeongbu Station (2018), and Anyang Station (2017).
◇나비현정
나비작가 김현정은 17년째 나비를 모티브로 페인팅에 기반하여 사진, 미디어, 설치 등을 융합한 멀티미디어 아티스트이다. 현실을 극복하고 빛을 향해 날아오르는 나비를 빛의 색으로 표현한다. 그 희망의 빛은 멀리 있는 것이 아니라 바로 내 안에 있음을 깨닫고서, 스스로 빛나는 ‘내 안의 빛’을 주제로 작업한다. LG의 신제품 ‘투명 디스플레이’에 구현된 그의 작품이 최근 라스베이거스컨벤션센터에서 개최된 OIF행사에서 큰 호응을 받았다. 작가는 빛나는 색채 표현을 위해 2009년부터 LED를 회화와 융합한 작업을 해왔는데, OLED와 근본적으로 잘 어울리는 콜라보였다.
△멀티디서플러네리 나비현정=상명대학교 대학원 조형예술·디자인 박사과정을 수료하고 서울, 파리, 뉴욕, 동경 등에서 개인전 13회, 100여회 단체전에 참가했다. 대중과의 소통을 위해 서울시청역(2019), 의정부역(2018), 안양역(2017)에 4차 산업 공공 미술 <기부하는 나비계단> 설치에 협업하기도 했다.
