러시아 지하철에서 ‘아우라의 발견’ 

 

 

우리는 지하철에서 수많은 익명의 사람들과 조우하면서 때론 강렬하게 때론 무관심하게 인파 속에 묻혀 깨닫지 못 하고 지나친다.  

We see a lot of strangers at subway stations and pass them by not recognizing the indifferent crowd.

 

지하철은 역사적 기운의 장소이며 영적인 만남의 장소이다. 한순간 떠나버려 영영 조우하지 못함으로 운명이 바뀐 슬픈 이야기들….  

Indeed, a subway station can be a place of historical spirit and spiritual meeting. Full of sad stories changing destinies by leaving that moment and being lost permanently….

 

해우하길 갈망하며 헤어진 그 지하철 장소로 다시 찾아가 오랫동안 의식 속에 남아있는 생명력을 지닌 내적 회상에 번민하며 집착 한다.  

Longing to see them, I visit the subway station again and try to reminisce the vitality that has been in our minds for a long time.

 

나는 러시아 지하철에서 솔제니친, 빅토르 최, 푸틴, 고르바조프를 만나며 예술의 고뇌와 번민, 권력의 힘과 무상함을 떠올리며 아름답고 고풍스런 러시아의 지하철을 담아본다.  

Seeing Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn, Victor Choi, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev at a Russian subway, I can transforma beautiful and antique Russian subway by thinking of anguish and anxiety to arts power and vanity of authority.

 

벤야민에 의하면 파시즘의 미학에 대해 공산주의는 예술의 정치화이며, 정치의 예술화는 ‘예술을 위한 예술’ 원칙의 성도착적인 완성으로 규정한다.  

By Walter Benjamin, communism regards aesthetics offascism to be politicization of arts and prescribes artisticism of politics as completion of sexual perversion of the principle of ‘Arts for arts’.  

 

벤야민의 입장은 미학적 예술품에 대한 논거이지만 공산주의 절대권력 아래에 지어진 러시아 지하철은 방공호로 대치되기도 한 합목적성에 부합된 건물로서 정치적 예술적 산물로 귀중한 예술 건축물의 하나이다.  

Benjamin’s position is an argument on aesthetic art works. However, Russian subways constructed under the absolute power of communism can be considered as one valuable artbuildings. As a building that is fit as a air-raid shelter and also as a political and artistic fruit.

 

지하철 내부의 회랑들과 문양은 마치 그리스 신전의 열린 회랑이나 궁전의 문양과 비슷하여 성스러운 구역으로 확장되어진다. 

However, Russian subways constructed under the absolute power of communism can be considered as one valuable art buildings. As a building that is fit as a air-raid shelter and also as a political and artistic fruit.

 

The internal corridors and patterns of the subway stations are expanded into a holy zone. They are similar to patterns of opened corridors or palaces as in Greek temples. 

 

러시아 지하철은 탄생과 죽음, 전쟁과 희생, 승리와 굴욕, 생존, 인간존재로서 기운이 감도는 역사적 장소이며 러시아민족의 세계이다.  

The Russian subway is a historical place hung by birth and death, war and sacrifice, victory and indignity, survival and energy as a human being.

 

이러한 전통적, 역사적 공간에서 흐르는 현상적 아름다움은 거시적 의미에서 아우라의 발현을 찾을 수 있다.

The world of the Russian race. We can find manifestation of aura in a macroscopic way in this phenomenal place of beauty and history.

 

나는 러시아의 지하철에서 솔제니친과 빅토르 최를 조우하고 고르바초프와 푸틴, 그리고 익명의 사람들을 만나면서 영적 아우라에 휩싸였다. 솔제니친과 빅토르 최는 러시아의 신화적 인물로서, 고르바초프와 푸틴은 역사적 인물로 화석화시켰다. 

Seeing Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn, Victor Choi, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev at a Russian subway, I was wrapped in spiritual aura. I fossilized Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn and Victor Choi as a mythic character of Russia and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev as a historical characters.

 

러시아 지하철이란 역사적 공간의 예술적 대상이 예술가와 만날 때 신비로움을 전해주며 작품의 기운은 예술적 대상인 지하철의 형상이미지에 의한 미적 긴장관계를 통해 아우라를 경험하게 된다.

When an artist is faced with an artistic object in a historical place, such as the Russian subway, it gives the artist mystery and the energy through the aesthetic relations of the shapes and images of the subway. An object of the arts.  

 

사진속의 익명의 얼굴들은 역사적 예술 공간을 통해 과거와 현재사이를 조우하게 하는 하나의 역사적 만남이며 아우라의 발현이다.  

Strange people in photos are a historical meeting and manifestation of aura encountering the past and the present through the historical place of arts.

 

우리의 시야 속에서 멀어져가는 지하철은 마치 블랙홀로 사라져 버린듯 한 착시현상을 일으켜 영적 기운을 외부로 밀어내는 강열함을 느끼지만, 그러나 여전히 남아있는 내적인 아우라를 만나게 된다.  

A subway retreating out of our vision causes an optical illusion as if it disappeared into a black hole, which makes us feel an intense spiritual energy to the outside. However, we can also see the internal aura which still remains.
