A canvas dotted with the waves of line-‘선의 물결로 점철된 화면’
The artworks of Jung-Mi Kim are very lively. Vivid and bright colors are dotted on the canvas and the waves of line rocking, thereby creating big wavelengths. As the colors spread to the side, mashed and dried up and once again covered with other water colors, dense veins of leaf or net-like shapes are created.
김정미의 작품은 대단히 활기차다. 울긋불긋한 색깔이 화면에 점철되어 잇거니와 선의 물결이 요동쳐 커다란 파장을 일으킨다. 색깔이 옆으로 번지고 뭉개지고 굳고 다시 다른 물감이 덮이면서 촘촘한 잎맥이나 그물과 같은 모양을 탄생 시킨다.
The technique of 'dripping' has an important meaning to Jung-Mi Kim, just as everyone has his or her main technique, because this techniques is involved in her artworks as the central element. Using the marbling technique that has very effective water color spread effect, she forms the background for a while and starts to active engage in spilling and dripping water colors to create unique ｅxpressions that looks as if ivy vine peeks over the wall. Such painting style originated from the "All-Over" Paintings attempted by an American abstract ｅxpressionist Jackson Pollock and the surrealistic automatisme, which was attempted for the purpose of exploring the world of unconsciousness, has been also added.
누구에게나 대표적인 기법이 있듯이 김정미에게는 ‘드리핑’이 중요한 의미를 갖는데 이 기법이 그의 작품에 중추적인 요인으로 참여하고 있기 때문이다. 작가는 물감이 번지는 효과가 좋은 마블링 기법을 이용해 바탕을 얼마간 조성한 다음 본격적으로 물감을 흘리고 떨어드리는 드리핑을 가해 담쟁이 넝쿨이 담 벽을 기웃거리는 듯 한 독특한 표정을 자아낸다. 이 같은 화풍은 미국의 추상표현주의자 잭슨플록이 시도한 올 오버 페인팅에서 비롯된 것이며 무의식 세계를 탐구할 목적으로 시도된 초현실적인 자동기술법도 곁들여져 있다.

The canvas accompanies natural rhythm to dripping. It is not only very energetic but also full of vigor. The water colors naturally dripped dominate the canvas and spread out the freely. It gives more intense feel, as the colors of high degree of purity are added in addition to the unhindered drawing. Accordingly, it is not incorrect to say that the secret to her artworks come from the dripping and harmony of colors. The weakness of potentially becoming empty through the dripping and colors alone is being overcome through the combination of these two elements.
화면은 드리핑에 자유스러운 리듬을 동반하고 있다. 매우 힘찰 뿐 만 아니라 원기왕성하다. 자연스럽게 흘린 물감이 화면을 주름 잡으면서 종횡무진 주위로 뻗어나가고 있다. 거침없는 드로잉에다 순도 높은 색깔까지 더해져 한층 강렬한 느낌을 알려준다. 이렇듯 그의 작품의 비밀은 드리핑과 색의 조화에서 비롯된다고 해도 틀린 말은 아니다. 드리핑과 색깔만으로는 자칫 허전해 질 수 있는 약점을 두 요소의 조합으로 극복해 나가고 있는 것이다.
The painter is revealing the light that beams out from the sunny side of the heart. The radiation of such light is making the paint not only brighter and cheerful but also lively. I wonder if her artworks are like something that unleashed the countless emotions felt while living daily lives and the respiration of life, or, in a more grand ｅxpression, the 'testimony of existence'.
작가는 마음 속 양지 바른 곳에서 뿜어져 나오는 빛을 드러내고 있다. 그런 빛의 발산이 그림을 한층 밝고 명랑하게 만들어 불 뿐만 아니라 그림을 활달하게 만들어 주고 있다. 그의 작품은 하루하루를 살아가면서 느끼는 수많은 감정들과 생의 숨결을 풀어놓은, 거창하게 표현하면 ‘존재의 증언’같은 것이 아닐까 생각해 본다.
