[2019~2020년]South Korea a Paper Painter Park Chul‥‘Garaejil’-a Korean aesthetic of new a properties of matter
“A new spring has come to Samcheoligangsan. Farmers plow fields and sow seeds” there is a Korean upbeat song saying. Mountains and fields bloom with young leaves rising through spring flowers and winter naps. In rice paddies and fields, farmers and naive cattle are drawn to the farmer’s hands to plow.
It is to do soil renewal work to plant seeds in long-sleeped land. My job is to draw in the place where the plow has passed, or its traces.
I use the “traditional Korean paper handmade from Mulberry tees(hanji)” and “antique books” that contain Korean emotions, as well as these arched-tracks where sweat and earth meet. Therefore, I wanted to express a Korean aesthetic with a brand new personality of matter.
